MATE Remote Monitor and Control
from Outback Power Systems

The MATE is able to connect, monitor and control up to ten OutBack devices. The Mate connects to multiple OutBack inverters or controllers through a communication hub using ethernet type cabling and RJ45 "phone" jacks. 

The OutBack MATE is a complete system controller and display for both the OutBack FX2000 inverter/charger and MX60 PV charge controller. The MATE provides a display of the operation as well as allows for control and adjustment of the setpoints. The MATE also coordinates the operation and communication between the system components to maximize performance and eliminate conflicts. 

A single MATE is able to connect to and manage multiple OutBack inverters, controllers and any future OutBack power conversion electronics introduced at a later date. A maximum of ten OutBack products can be connected to a single MATE via CAT 5 ethernet cable with an 8 wire RJ45 modular connector and an OutBack HUB communications manager. 

The OutBack MATE features a 4 line backlit display with 80 alphanumeric characters. This allows multiple measurements to be displayed simultaneously and reduces the number of cryptic abbreviations used, simplifying operations and reducing confusion. All of the programmed setpoints are stored in non-volatile memory to eliminate the need to reprogram the system after a shutdown or battery replacement. 

The OutBack MATE also includes a built in real time clock and calendar which allows programming of the inverter functions based on the time of day and even day of the week. This feature allows the system to be programmed to take advantage of time-of-day power rates or to limit a generator's run time to a specific time period of the day or week. 

The Mate also includes an opto-isolated RS232 port with a DB9 jack for connection to the serial port of a PC computer. OutBack is currently working with several third party developers to offer Windows based software programs for datalogging and graphical display of the system's operation and performance. This PC computer software will be available seperately.
